Crafting plates, protecting forests

We are a dedicated Areca and Sal leaf tableware manufacturer in India committed to zero-waste, tree-friendly production. Discover our story and values.

Our Mission: Replacing Plastic, One Leaf at a Time

Founded with a mission to curb plastic pollution, Leaf 2 Plate has grown into a leading bulk manufacturer of biodegradable dinnerware. Our operations are guided by the circular economy: using agricultural byproduct to create value, avoiding tree felling, and creating rural employment.

By working directly with palm cultivation growers and local tribal forest gatherers, we create a sustainable supply chain that supports local families while delivering certified export-quality products to the international market.

True Environmental Protection

"Unlike paper dinnerware which requires logging, or sugarcane bagasse which relies on heavy crop chemical run-off, palm leaf tableware is harvested purely from agricultural droppings, representing the absolute lowest lifecycle impact of any disposable tableware."

The Areca Leaf Journey: Sourcing to Soil

Learn how naturally fallen sheaths are turned into premium, heavy-duty plates through a clean, chemical-free process.

Production Process & Lifecycle

Our Areca tableware is made from naturally fallen sheaths of the Areca palm tree. No trees are ever cut down or trimmed. Local growers gather these sheaths from the ground, turning agricultural byproduct into valuable income.

  • 1. Pressure Washing: Sheaths are pressure washed in clean spring water. No soaps, detergents, or chlorine bleaches are used.
  • 2. Steam Heat Molding: The clean sheaths are pressed in custom molds at 180°C. This shapes and sterilizes the leaf without any synthetic glues or binding agents.
  • 3. Trimming & Sterilization: Plates are precision-trimmed for smooth borders, UV-C light sterilized, and packed with active silica gel to prevent moisture.
  • 4. Composting Lifecycle: After use, the plates return to the soil as rich natural compost in 60-90 days, returning vital nutrients to the earth.

Artisanal Stitching & Molding

Our Sal Siali leaf plates represent the traditional Indian heritage of sustainable dining. We source mature green leaves gathered responsibly from forest floors by rural forest-dwelling cooperatives.

  • 1. Sustainable Collection: Forest communities pick fallen leaves from wild Sal (Shorea robusta) trees, ensuring no branches are broken.
  • 2. Artisanal Hand-Stitching: Multiple leaves are hand-stitched together using small, natural grass twigs to form a wide circular sheet.
  • 3. Backed Steam Molding: The stitched leaves are steam-pressed with a thin layer of food-grade recycled paperboard backing for robust rigidity and a leak-proof seal.
  • 4. Backyard Composting: Because Sal leaf plates use pure leaves and natural twigs, they compost rapidly in backyard compost heaps in only 45-60 days.
